“Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he was made to enter Paradise, on it he. was expelled from it.”
Jumuah starts on Thursday night
Here is the detail many of us learn late: in the Islamic calendar the day begins at Maghrib, not midnight. The moment the sun sets on Thursday, Jumuah has already begun — so its special deeds open on Thursday evening, not Friday morning. That one fact roughly doubles your Jumuah.

“Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on the day of Jumuah, a light will shine for him between the two Fridays.”

“Increase your supplications of blessings upon me on the day of Jumuah, for your supplications are presented to me.”
The hour of acceptance
“On Friday there is an hour in which, if a Muslim happens to be praying and asking Allah for something good, He will give it to him.”
The hour is unmarked — a hidden treasure to keep us seeking. Many scholars favour the last hour before Maghrib on Friday: park your dua list there and ask like someone who knows the door is open.
And for the day itself
For those attending the Friday prayer, the reward scales with the effort in a staggering way:
“Narrated Aws ibn Aws ath-Thaqafi: I heard the apostle of Allah (ﷺ) say: If anyone makes (his wife) wash and he washes himself on Friday, goes out early (for Friday prayer), attends the sermon from the beginning, walking, not riding, takes his seat near the imam, listens attentively, and does not indulge in idle talk, he will get the reward of a year's fasting and praying at night for every step he takes.”
One honest note about fasting
Jumuah is not a fasting day on its own — singling out Friday for a fast is discouraged in the sunnah (it may only be fasted when it coincides with a day you would fast anyway, like a White Day or the Day of Arafah). That is why the sunnahfast Jumuah email, which arrives every Thursday evening as the day begins, is about Kahf, salawat and dua — never a nudge to fast.
